Fanny Smith (28) still secures the ski cross home victory in Arosa! On Tuesday, the Swedes were still standing in the sun for women and men, on Wednesday Smith crossed the finish line first in the final.
La Vaudois celebrate their 24th World Cup triumph. In the end, however, she seems almost happier about her teammate’s success: Talina Gantenbein (22) also takes the podium behind her. The best result for Grisons was previously two eleventh places.
Damn Swedes
In addition to second place to Fanny Smith, the men caused a stir on Tuesday: three quarters of the final was in the hands of Switzerland. Alex Fiva (2nd), Joos Berry (3rd) and Jonas Lenherr (4th) had to bow to Swede David Mobaerg, but of course there were two podium spots anyway.
A day later, Mobaerg finished fourth. Ryan Regez’s Chance (27)! The Bernese Oberland takes the podium. Because a Swede is again faster with Viktor Andersson, not fast enough to win.
Three of the four victories at Arosa are for Sweden: Alexandra Edebo and David Mobaerg win on Tuesday and Viktor Andersson on Wednesday.
Six podiums in two days
Is it difficult to keep track of things? Bottom line: Switzerland has three podium spots at home in Arosa on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Also, 4th place on Tuesday by Lenherr and 6th place in Tobias Baur’s small final on Wednesday (23).
Fanny Smith stands out from the brilliant result of the Swiss team with her victory. (str)
