In a conversation with the “Tages-Anzeiger”, Zurich Health Director Natalie Rickli welcomed the clear call from hospitals to politicians to take immediate action to contain the pandemic as intensive care units they are full and the health staff is exhausted.
According to the Zurich health director, the current situation is no longer reasonable for Swiss hospitals and health workers. The Federal Council had to adopt clear and drastic measures for all of Switzerland on Friday.
A full blocking is not mandatory, but industries such as gastronomy, culture, leisure and entertainment should be closed. The Federal Council couldn’t wait until after Christmas to make a decision.
