The governing council of the canton of Basel-Stadt has extended the currently applicable crown measures until January 22, 2021 inclusive. This stems from a communication on Tuesday. This means that the bars and restaurants in the canton of the city will be closed for the time being. Besides Graubünden, Basel-Stadt is currently the only canton in which restaurants are closed. The partial blockade was imposed on November 23.
A federal action plan is currently being discussed with the cantons, which also includes stricter regulations. But the Basel city government is clearly not introducing new measures at the federal level quickly enough. The governing council is in favor of this action plan, it said in Tuesday’s statement. “It suggests an entry into force earlier this week,” the press release said Tuesday.
Taking into account federal regulations, the following measures will apply in the canton of Basel-Stadt from Monday, December 21:
