Joe Thornton returns from HC Davos to the NHL. The 41-year-old Canadian was called by the Toronto Maple Leafs and returned home Monday. Thornton played 12 games for HCD, scoring 5 goals and 6 assists. For “Big Joe,” who is married to a Davos woman, it was the third guest appearance on Landwassertal. The new NHL season will begin in January at the earliest. Thornton had agreed to a one-year contract with the Maple Leafs during the offseason. Previously, he had played for the San Jose Sharks for 15 years.
