The way in which the confessions about exam fraud emerged at the university is controversial. Now ZHAW wants to improve oversight.
The last season of exams ended in debacle. Because there were so many cheating on online testing in the summer, the ZHAW opened no fewer than 148 disciplinary proceedings. Most of those affected admitted to cheating in recent months. By then, at the latest, the roles seemed to be clearly distributed: here the fraudulent students, there the deceived technical school.
An online petition requesting that the process be stopped has 567 signatures.
That annoys those who feel unjustly accused and defend themselves. According to the ZHAW, 43 people cling to their innocence. So far only one case has been closed because the suspicion was not confirmed. The process dragged on for a long time. All but eight students have received a decision that can still be appealed.
