Jambolina arrived at her new home in the Graubünden mountains on Friday after a journey of more than 2,400 kilometers.

The journey from Ukraine through Poland, to Germany and Austria to Switzerland took four days. A team from the animal welfare organization Vier Pfoten organized the unusual transport of the eleven-year-old bear.

In Ukraine, the animal had lived a life as a circus bear. However, many public events have been canceled due to restrictions related to the corona pandemic. This situation caused Jambolina to be kept in a cage that was too small for her.

In Arosa, the bear can let off steam in a spacious enclosure and meet other animals. Amelia and Meimo are the names of the other two bears. Napa, the first resident of the bear sanctuary, died about a month ago. The former Serbian circus bear suffering from epilepsy lived to be 14 years old.
