The Grasshoppers suffer a defeat on Matchday 13 of the Challenge League. The leader lost 1: 3 to the formally strong Thun. Aarau had to be content with a 3: 3 against Stade Lausanne-Ouchy.
A double hit from the Bernese Oberlanders by Japan’s Nikki Havenaar (85th) and Dennis Salanovic (88th) within a good 120 seconds decided the all-out fight in the Thun arena shortly before the end. Cristian Ponde had scored 1-1 for Zurich ten minutes earlier.
For GC it was the third loss this season, the third on artificial turf. Thun continued his strong streak under coach Carlos Bernegger and is now second in the table after the eighth straight game without a loss.
Lausanne halts Aarau’s winning streak
There was very little to go and the 50 spectators of Brügglifeld in Aarau would have seen FC Aarau’s fourth consecutive victory. A stupid hand from Elsad Zverotic in her own penalty area allowed the Lausanne-Ouchy visitors to equalize with a penalty in injury time. The hosts had made a spectacular change earlier when they turned 0: 2 into 3: 2 between minutes 67 and 74.
Xamax sinks in Witerthur
FC Winterthur is new at third place and has the better goal difference than Aargauer. Winterthur beat Neuchâtel Xamax 4-0, which was relegated. For Neuchâtel and their coach Stéphane Henchoz it was the seventh loss in a row. The last table lead over Chiasso, who won 3-0 at Wil, melted to one point.
