The group draw for the European Under-21 Championship took place in Nyon on Thursday afternoon. After missing four final rounds, Switzerland will return to Hungary and Slovenia next year. From former Swiss international Philippe Senderos, the national team moved to Group D, where they will face England, Portugal and Croatia.

The two victories of the English are a little behind (1982/1984), but in the final of 2009, the “Three Lions” reached the final. England finished third in 2017. Portugal and Croatia have never won the title, although Portugal only lost it by a small margin in the 2015 penalty shootout against Sweden.

Next year’s European Under-21 Championship will be divided into two parts: the group stage and the knockout round will take place separately. Group matches will be played from March 24-31, with group winners and runners-up qualifying for the knockout round. The SFV team will play its group matches in Slovenia.

From May 31 to June 6, the remaining 8 teams will play for the European Championship in the knockout round.
