Patchwork quilt. A word that comes up over and over again when it comes to Switzerland, the cantons, and the crown rules. After the Federal Council press conference on Tuesday evening, AZ was able to speak with Aargau’s health director Jean-Pierre Gallati. He says:
The tightening of the individual cantons, which was decided between Sunday and Tuesday, would have resulted in a patchwork of different rules.
Gallati goes on to say: “I asked the Federal Council to adopt uniform measures if it felt that the cantons were not fulfilling their tasks or that they were not coordinating enough with each other.” This should happen now with the adjustment, which will take effect from December 12.
The measures will be discussed on Wednesday
There are also criticisms of the Aargau government’s approach: In the government building in Aarau, 235 candles are lit Tuesday night for the crown deaths in the canton. The vigil in Aarau was coordinated by Jemine Güttinger and Ralph Wunderlin. Participants call for stricter measures to prevent more deaths.
In terms of content, Gallati is yet to comment on the planned national measures. “We will discuss this in the governing council on Wednesday and then we will give our opinion to the Federal Council,” he says.
