The Andermatt-Sedrun Ski Arena has developed a detailed concept of crown safety. It has a Swiss innovation: the gondola ride from Gemsstock Valley Station can be booked online in advance from October. This is how you want to avoid too many crowds.
And here’s how it works: for example, you can secure a 10 o’clock gondola ride at the office the day before. You will then receive a confirmation code on your mobile phone, which you must show at the valley station in Andermatt. “Shortly before departure, you will receive another request on your cell phone so you can pay for your coffee in peace,” Stefan Kern, spokesperson for Andermatt Swiss Alps AG, tells BLICK.
Expanded reservation system
The system seems to be working. Because the reservation system will be extended to the entire ski area. The Gütsch-Express gondola must also be reserved from December 12 for all trips until 11 am Reservations are possible for departures every six minutes, as communicated. 150 people can be transported every six minutes. A total of up to 1500 people per hour.
Since October 31st, the number of winter sports enthusiasts in Gemsstock has been limited to 1000. The number of skiers in the entire ski area is now voluntarily limited to 8,000 people. This is to reduce crowds and wait times and implement Covid protection measures. CEO Rainer Flaig: “With this step we guarantee more safety and well-being”. Day tickets can only be purchased online or at machines.
50 percent more outdoor spaces
There is also news in the pub: the mountain restaurants on the Andermatt-Sedrun ski slope have 50% more outdoor seating. The new measures of the Federal Council in the matter of restaurants are being implemented. A new traffic light system also allows guests to see how busy the restaurant is. (pbe)
