Burckhardt will step down as chairman of the board of directors after ten years in office, Baloise announced Monday. This is the right time to hand over the presidium to younger and more capable hands, the communication cites. The Basler had previously worked for Basler as General Secretary for six years beginning in 1988.

Continue with the previous course

The new man at the top of the board of directors, Thomas von Planta, is no stranger either. The 59-year-old has been a member of the committee since 2017 and was involved in the Executive and Investment Committee, as well as the Audit and Risk Committee. With Thomas von Planta as president, the Baloise will continue on the course it has chosen, the statement said.

Planta will cease to hold his current position as general director of the consulting firm Corfinad after his election. Since 2019, he is also a member of the Board of Directors of BB Biotech AG and of the Advisory Board of Harald Quandt Industriebeteiligungen. Until March 2019 he was president of the listed Bellevue group.
