Odermatt missed the first Swiss victory in a World Cup giant slalom in nearly ten years by three-tenths when it snowed and conditions were tough. The Swiss central, who finished second in Sölden, took the lead in the discipline classification with his second podium. Odermatt, who finished second after the first race, and Meillard showed that the forced break after the positive tests from Corona could not hurt them.

The second Nidwalden gave another display of his talent. Semyel Bissig, who started at number 51 and improved twelve places to 16 in the second race, immediately earned points in his first World Cup giant slalom. A week ago, Bissig surprised with fifth place in the parallel race at Lech / Zürs.

As a fourth Swiss, Justin Murisier delivered an accounting result. Valais, who also had to be absent for the crown and who probably lacked confidence in the prevailing conditions due to their history of injuries with three cruciate ligament tears, ranked 25th.

Gino Caviezel, who secured his first World Cup podium with third place in Sölden, retired in the first race. Cédric Noger, Daniel Yule, him on his first World Cup giant slalom and Daniele Sette missed qualifying for the second round.

Zubcic celebrated his second World Cup victory after last February in Naeba, Japan. The Croatian rose to the top from sixth place and edged out Kranjec, who was leading after half the workload, by twelve hundredths.

Santa Caterina, where the women’s competitions of the 2005 World Cup were held, intervened as a place to replace the two races canceled in Val d’Isère due to lack of snow. The second giant slalom is scheduled for Sunday.
