In Ticino, heavy snowfalls partially paralyzed train traffic. On Saturday morning, several railway lines were affected, including the route between Airolo and Locarno and Bellinzona and Chiasso, according to the SBB website. The Brig – Domodossola railway line was also affected. There are also train cancellations and delays there.
For its part, the TCS reported on snowy lanes for many roads in Ticino, Valais and Graubünden, as well as closures for trailer trains and semi-trailers.

The federal government had already announced the second highest level of avalanche warning on Friday due to the expected snow masses in parts of Ticino and Graubünden. Due to heavy snowfall, the power supply has failed three times in parts of Graubünden since Friday. Hundreds of customers of energy provider Repower in Surselva were affected, as the company announced on Saturday.
Heavy snowfall had already disrupted traffic on Friday. According to his own statements, the railway was pushed to the limit. At night, the A2 between Lugano-Nord and the Giornico waiting room rest area was closed to heavy traffic, as announced by the TCS.
Occasionally sections of the road were interrupted due to landslides or downed trees. In Lugano, snow chains were mandatory in some places.
