The flight ban for Boeing’s 737 Max crisis plane has just been lifted, and the group is now receiving support from Ryanair. Europe’s largest low-cost airline offers the option to purchase another 75 aircraft.
The airline is sticking to its planned order volume of 210 copies despite the Corona crisis. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in spring 2021.
Ryanair now has firm orders valued at $ 22 billion for the type of aircraft on the book. Boeing can use the support, the American aviation giant is suffering a violent wave of cancellations due to the 737 Max debacle and the pandemic and is falling further and further behind its competitor Airbus. However, Boeing also had to make significant concessions to Ryanair.
The 737 Max was withdrawn from service in March 2019 after two accidents with 346 deaths. The main cause of the accidents was a faulty control program that directed the machines towards the ground. In November, flight bans in the US, Europe and Brazil were lifted under strict conditions. In reality, Boeing wanted problems corrected much earlier.
