Ski resorts in Switzerland: rules about the festive season

The Federal Council lifted capacity restrictions for Swiss ski areas. These would have been economically manageable. Resentment in neighboring countries remains high.

Most likely, the Swiss will be able to ski on vacation. The question, however, is how many even dare to venture into the mountains.

Will Switzerland become a ski island in Europe?

Yes, Switzerland takes a special route in the Alpine region during the festive season. This is clear after Austria gave in to pressure from Germany and Italy in the “ski resort dispute.” Ski holidays during the holidays will not be possible in the neighboring country. Ski areas will remain formally open, but hotels and restaurants must close by January 7. Skiing is therefore only an option for local holiday apartment users and hikers. France, Italy and Germany want to keep the ski areas closed until mid-January.
