The CAS has completed the arbitration procedure between the two parties. The dispute, which had boiled over four years, in which the organizers of the Lauberhorn classic had demanded additional financial support from the national ski association, reached the TAS in April 2018. A good two and a half years ago, Wengener filed a claim against Swiss Ski in the arbitral tribunal.

The dispute finally escalated last May when Swiss Ski petitioned the International Ski Federation FIS to remove the World Cup races in Wengen from the calendar starting the following year.

Amherd as mediator

It was the beginning of a media campaign, in the course of which both parties initially insisted on their views, but later found a common denominator with the participation of politics.

After talking with Federal Councilor and Sports Minister Viola Amherd at the Federal Palace, Urs Näpflin, the head of the Lauberhorn Race Organizing Committee, and Swiss Ski President Urs Lehmann found a feasible path. Wengen officials agreed, among other things, to withdraw the lawsuit before the CAS.
