Covid: the first Swiss cat has a Crown

Now it’s clear: pets can get Corona too. The Federal Office for Food and Veterinary Safety now reports the first case of corona in a cat. For the first time, the virus was detected in a Büsi in the veterinary medicine laboratory of the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich.

However, there is no evidence that cats and dogs pose a risk of infection to humans. Rather, it is assumed that humans transmit the virus to animals. Individual cases of the new coronavirus in dogs and cats are known throughout the world. However, almost all of these animals come from households with people who have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. This also applies to cats that tested positive in Switzerland.
