The first snowfalls give hope to the many small ski areas. The ski lifts open from 20 to 30 centimeters of snow. This would make the little ones Corona’s perfect alternative to the big ski areas.
“We don’t have gondolas or large concentrations of people inside,” Markus Ineichen, president of the Bäretswil ski lift cooperative, tells the “Landbote”. Also, the areas are familiar and close.
Small ski areas with advantages
Ineichen is also convinced that small businesses will not be affected by possible new federal measures.
The benefits are clear, he says. People stayed home and decided spontaneously for a day on the slopes “without long trips or crowds,” he says. Mirjam Wüthrich from Zürioberland Tourismus believes that too. “People tend to stay close and appreciate short distances.”
First a common ticket
Small ski areas attract this year with a joint subscription. The Zürioberland Tourismus association will issue a new ticket. A total of seven ski areas are represented in it. Including Steg ZH, Bäretswil ZH and Wildberg ZH.
Most lifts have a much shorter range. Often there is no stripping and only buttons are lifted. When queuing, skis provide the necessary distance. “Since there are a lot of children with us and we don’t have a pub, a lot of things happen as usual,” says Claudia Nägeli of the Weisslinger Dicki ski lift.
So far, the weather seems to play along. The first snow gives hope. In Fischenthal ZH it had already snowed 15 centimeters, in Bäretswil ZH ten centimeters. (vnf)
