He sat alone and scared in a corner. He had almost no teeth and could barely speak. We are talking about a 41-year-old man whom a relative found on Sunday in a dilapidated apartment in Haninge, south of Stockholm.
It is said that his own mother (70) held the man prisoner for 28 years, reports «Expressen». The woman was arrested by the police but denies having committed any crime.
“It was like stepping straight into a horror movie,” said the newspaper relative after his horror discovery. It stinks of urine and mountains of garbage wherever you look. In the middle is the victim. The man’s legs were covered in injuries and he could barely walk. On Sunday evening he was taken to the New Karolinska Spital in Stockholm and immediately operated on. His condition is considered serious.
“Stolen from all his life”
The relative told police that after years of suspicion, his worst fears had been confirmed. Apparently, the mother took her son out of school when he was in seventh grade. From the age of 12, the boy was practically isolated from the outside world. His only social contact is said to have been his mother.
Over the years, the woman managed to fool everyone around her. “It is terrible that his whole life has been stolen from him,” says the relative.
He goes on to say that he tried to alert other relatives and authorities a few years ago. But apparently no one should have taken her concerns seriously. Then she gave up.
On Sunday, the relative learned that the 70-year-old man was in hospital. He decided to take advantage of the woman’s absence to enter the apartment. “I can hardly describe how it was, I am in shock. The whole apartment was like a garbage can, ”he says.
Before the mother went to the hospital, she apparently left her son with french fries, toast, cheese and a packet of mackerel, Aftonbladet writes. It is said that a blanket on the floor served as a sleeping pad.
Child as a substitute for a deceased child?
But why did the mother lock up her son for almost 30 years? As the family member said, the woman had lost a child when she was little.
When she later gave birth to her second child, she had named him the same as the deceased. “She was too cautious and just wanted to get her deceased son back,” says the “SVT” relative. Since childhood, it is said that the mother taught the son that everyone around her would seek them out, but that only she could protect him.
The investigation is progressing rapidly. Detectives are investigating the crime scene. The son could not yet be questioned. (man)
