City of culture Now: “Historical day of youth culture”

The non-partisan committee Kulturstadt Jetzt applauds in a statement on the vote of Basel voters in favor of the initiative tip. It is a “historic day for youth culture,” they say. Basel is taking a pioneering role in promoting youth culture. The cantonal budget for the financing of culture has now been increased to about 6.7 million francs.

Baselland says yes to Corona rental assistance – national bills rejected

Basel-based businesses are likely to receive rental subsidies from Corona

Stores that were badly hit by the first wave of the Crown crisis will be backed retrospectively with rent relief in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. A yes to the so-called three-thirds model is emerging.

After counting 73 of the 86 municipalities in Basel-biet, 27,073 yes 23,417 no. This results in a 53.62 percent voting share.

Under the three-thirds model, the canton pays one-third of the rent if the landlord renounces one-third of the rental income. The tenant of the commercial premises still has the last third.

District President Ackermann is satisfied with the tip decision.

Shortly after the interim results were announced, Elisabeth Ackermann commented on the presentations from the city of Basel in a video. She is relieved by the emerging yes to the tip initiative: “Of course I am pleased that the people of Basel have spoken out in favor of broad cultural support.” Now you have to talk to the initiators about the concrete implementation of the template.

High electoral turnout in Basel-Stadt

The Basel electorate also goes to the polls in the second ballot for the government and for national and cantonal proposals. About 40 percent have already mailed their vote-by-mail ballots or deposited them directly with city hall. That’s almost 10 percent more than at the same time four years ago. With the group responsibility initiative and the vote on the port 3 basin, a hot iron will be decided at both the national and cantonal levels.
