Currently, tourists are scarce in Mallorca. The Mediterranean island awaits a miserable season. Hundreds of restaurants and hotels will not survive the Corona season, that’s for sure. The bankrupt vulture circles the rocky island.
Aircraft parking spaces at Mallorca airports are the most popular. Because these are practically full in Britain, British Airways sends its medium-haul planes to the island on holiday. This is reported by the aviation portal Aerotelegraph.
Thousands of planes on the ground
The crown crisis hit the aviation industry around the world with utter severity. There are thousands of planes on the ground instead of carrying cargo or passengers in the air. Currently, only those who absolutely have to fly. Many routes are no longer available.
This has consequences: aircraft parking spaces are becoming a rare commodity and therefore in high demand. British Airways sends more than 20 of its short and medium-haul aircraft to Mallorca. Airbus A319, A320 and A321 have recently arrived at Son Sant Koan airport.
Two airports are already full
The Tarbes and Teruel airports, specialized in long-term storage of machines, are practically complete. European airlines appreciate dry and hot weather. (pbe)
