In a remote area of the US state of Utah, a helicopter crew has found an unusual metallic monolith.
The crew counted sheep in southeastern Utah from the air last Wednesday when the crew spotted the object and landed nearby for a closer inspection, the state authority announced.
Does the metal monolith come from another planet?
The photos show the column in the middle of a landscape of red rocks characteristic of the region. Pilot Bret Hutchings told local broadcaster KSL that the object was three to three and a half meters tall. “We joke that if one of us suddenly disappears, the rest should run away.”
The origin of the metallic monolith is unclear. The authority did not provide any information on the exact location so that viewers would not make a pilgrimage to the monolith and get lost on the way.
It is not yet clear if the object will stop. It is illegal to install artifacts or works of art on state-administered land without permission, “no matter what planet you come from,” wrote the Utah Public Safety Authority. (SDA)
