Doris De Agostini was an exceptional ski racer and she remained humble. Only once did he overestimate his charisma when he succumbed to a mistake. An obituary.

There was a time when things were a little quieter without a cell phone or sat nav. Ski journalists were happy to stop at the “Black Eagle” in St. Anton am Arlberg for lunch as they traveled to their races. One winter day, a car with Swiss license plates and an advertisement for a ski company pulled into the parking lot, and shortly afterwards a young man from Graubünden at the journalists’ table asked, “Am I here on the way to Garmisch?” This blond boy was in the company of a slim, half-head taller teenager: Fritz Züger, at the time Doris De Agostini’s service man, was driving to the Women’s World Cup at the Bavarian resort with his talented Ticino skier.
