Baden-Württemberg, as well as Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and other border cantons are in favor of a coordinated approach during the Crown crisis.
Border traffic between Switzerland and Germany should remain open in the second wave of the corona pandemic. The seven border cantons and the German state of Baden-Württemberg are campaigning for this. Cooperation in the fight against the crown must be strengthened.
The common goal is to learn from the experiences of the first wave and promote a coordinated and focused approach in the border region. This is found in a joint declaration of the state of Baden-Württemberg and the cantons of Aargau, Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft, Schaffhausen, St. Gallen, as well as Thurgau and Zurich.
A delegation from the border cantons met Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) online for a working meeting on Friday. The head of the delegation on the Swiss side was the director of the economy of Aargau, Urs Hofmann (SP), as also announced by the Aargau State Chancellery.

“The corona pandemic poses special challenges for the border region between Germany and Switzerland, which we, as cross-border partners, can only master together,” the statement continues.
National governments and the European Union should allow cross-border compatibility of the Corona warning application in Germany and Switzerland. The objective is to promote the importance of information exchange and cross-border monitoring of infection chains to combat pandemics.
