It took a while, but now it’s clear: Dieter Vranckx (47) is the new director from Switzerland. He succeeds Thomas Klühr (58), who surprisingly announced his retirement for the end of the year at the end of September. This personality surprises even aviation experts.
The new Swiss boss has some works to tackle right away. «The central problem is the personnel problem. Vranckx absolutely has to feel the concerns of the staff, ”says Stefan Eiselin (47), editor-in-chief of the aviation portal Aerotelegraph.
“Employees have to contribute to savings”
Close cooperation with employees is now especially important. “Currently, staff fly less frequently. This not only makes communication difficult, but also makes it difficult to identify with the Swiss. In times of crisis, savings must also be borne by the employees, ”he tells BLICK.
Furthermore, Vranckx would have to completely reorganize Swiss. “We are in the deepest crisis since the Second World War. You have to expect slow growth. There will be no recovery before 2024, ”Eiselin said.
Build your fleet correctly
The correct choice of destinations is also crucial. “Routes have to be chosen carefully and you have to react flexibly to travel conditions.” In addition, the new boss must select and configure the appropriate fleet. Very important: “This must be closely coordinated with the parent company Lufthansa.”
The incorporation of Swiss into the parent company Lufthansa is equally crucial. “Vranckx has to find his role at Lufthansa. When Swiss was still making a profit, it was certainly easier, ”says Eiselin. Cost savings is a problem anyway. Restructuring and at the same time not losing the audience of employees is crucial, according to the expert.
