Anyone who does not adhere to the corona measures adopted at the end of October will likely be fined up to 300 francs in the future. What does that mean in concrete terms?
In the future, the police will penalize with fines if someone refuses to wear a mask. How is that regulated today?
Currently, the violation of the Epidemic Law or the Covid-19 Ordinance is processed with an ordinary criminal procedure. In the canton of Zurich, the police report an offense to the regional governor’s office, in the canton of Bern to the prosecutor, in the canton of Basel-Stadt the health department is the investigating authority, while the prosecutor determines the fine in individual cases. Today, fines for mask rejection can amount up to CHF 10,000 and up to CHF 5,000 for negligence. (Court reporter Thomas Hasler sums it up here: Do those who reject the masks threaten four-digit fines?).
