Extreme athlete Vincent Reffet, known for daring jet flights, had a fatal accident during training in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Frenchman died on Tuesday, the Jetman Dubai company announced.
No further details were given. The company is working with the relevant authorities to investigate the accident. Reffet was a “talented athlete” and was very popular on the team.
Reffet was a partner of Yves Rossy, known as “Jetman”, who crossed the English Channel between France and Great Britain with his jet wing in 2008 and the Grand Canyon in the US state of Arizona in 2011. With the nozzle blades speeds of more than 300 kilometers per hour can be reached.
Shot through the “gate of heaven”
Among other things, Reffet caused a sensation in 2014 when he jumped from the tallest building in the world, the 828-meter-high Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The following year he flew alongside the Swiss Rossy alongside a double-decker Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger plane.
In 2019, Reffet and his partner Fred Fugen shot through a natural rock hole on Tianmen Mountain in China’s Hunan Province, also known as the “Gate of Heaven.” (SDA)
