The start of the next season seems uncertain. There are “new problems,” writes the ATP.
The crisis of the crown is already casting its shadow over the 2021 tennis season. Slovak professional Luckas Lacko (ATP 193) shared a message from the ATP on Twitter on Wednesday that questions the start in Australia with the 1st Grand Slam tournament of the year.
Just delays?
“After discussions with Tennis Australia in the last 24 hours, we have learned that new issues have arisen regarding the travel dates,” the ATP wrote in a message to the players.
Lacko added that there were new rumors saying that “players will not be able to enter Australia in December.”
Blockade in South Australia
The organizers’ plan ahead of the Australian Open (January 18-31) has so far been to quarantine players for 14 days before they can train and participate in preparatory tournaments.
A late entry could also have consequences for the “Happy Slam”. Another closure was decided on Wednesday in South Australia, a state neighboring Melbourne.
