The latest corona numbers give reason for hope: On Tuesday, the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) reported 4,560 new infections, 299 hospital admissions and 142 new deaths.
New infections continue to decline. However, an important point is the development of hospitals, and the situation remains delicate. Currently the capacities are sufficient. The coordinated medical service (KSD) informed the army on Monday that there were 1,129 intensive care beds in Switzerland. A good quarter is still free.
However, the number of Covid patients in hospitals has increased even more in the last ten days: 3,788 people were counted in hospitals on Monday. Most in normal beds.
More than 500 in intensive care
The number of patients has increased, especially in intensive care units: 519 Covid patients were seen on Monday; ten days earlier it was 443. The proportion of Covid patients in intensive care units is currently 62 percent. Intensive care units are full in individual hospitals, for example in the cantonal hospital in Baden AG.
The number of people affected by covid in IMCU beds, a level of treatment between the intensive care unit and the normal ward, has also increased during the same period: from 101 to 137 patients with Covid.
