Gone are the days when you were pampered with free snacks on a Swiss flight. The airline is changing its concept of economy class catering to short and medium-haul flights from Zurich.
In the future there will only be water and the Swiss Schöggeli for free. They no longer serve you sandwiches, cheesecakes, or croissants. Ice cream in summer or a vanilla, cherry and apple strudel are just sweet memories.
No more free beers
There are also changes in drinks. A beer or a glass of wine are a thing of the past. You will also have to pay for a Coca-Cola in the future.
As part of the Swiss Saveurs concept, already known from Geneva, the airline offers selected snacks and drinks for sale. The focus is on a wider selection, as well as quality and freshness with a regional reference. No adjustments will be made to the service concept in Business Class.
“Make it more individual”
“Today our guests want their travel experience to be more individual, the previous catering options on board often no longer meet their expectations,” says Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Swiss Chief of Trade.
Prices? In Geneva, Swiss offers a turkey sandwich with Gruyère cheese for € 9.70, a fruit salad for € 5.50 or a blueberry muffin for € 3.50. A Cola costs 3.50 euros, a can of beer 4.20 euros or a bottle of white wine 10.20 euros, as reported by Aerotelegraph.
