Lewis Hamilton secured his seventh world title ahead of schedule by winning the Turkish GP. With that, the Brit is tied with record holder Michael Schumacher.

Lewis Hamilton did it! In the fourth final race of this special season, the Briton secured his seventh Formula 1 World Championship title early with a victory at the Turkish GP. The 35-year-old Mercedes driver now lives up to the previous record holder Michael Schumacher.
In the world championship standings, Hamilton extended his lead over teammate Valtteri Bottas to 110 unassailable points with 3 runs to play. Bottas was Hamilton’s only remaining competitor in the title fight, but after several laps he finished out of points in the race.
Perez on the podium, Stroll can’t use pole
Behind Hamilton, Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) and Sebastian Vettel, who caught up with Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc at the last corner, completed the podium. Racing Point’s second driver, Lance Stroll, failed to take advantage of the first pole of his career. After being in the lead for a long time, he finished the race in ninth position.
Rain in Istanbul
Like the whole weekend of the race, on Sunday he did not set the best time either. Especially at the beginning of the race it was still raining in Istanbul Park. But the longer the race lasted, the drier the track became. However, conditions remained difficult, especially when a short shower again fell shortly before the end. Several drivers found themselves on the side of the track during the course of the race.
Alphas cannot gain momentum with them
With Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi starting in positions 8 and 10, qualifying for Alfa Romeo was better than it has been for more than a year. On race day, the disappointment quickly spread. Even before the race, Giovinazzi landed on the gravel.
The Italian was able to face the race normally, but had to park his car after less than a third of the race distance due to technical problems. Raikkonen finished 15th in the race team’s 500 GP weekend.
