The Swiss Under-21s who have already qualified for the European Championship will win the ninth qualifying match. Filip Stojilkovic scored the goal in the 2-1 victory over Azerbaijan in the 91st minute in Thun.

After Mauro Lustrinelli’s team had already sovereignly qualified for the 2021 European Championship in Slovenia and Hungary in October, they were challenged by the outsider as in the first leg (1-0). Azerbaijan took the lead in the 22nd minute against the course of the game.

The Swiss tied shortly after the break thanks to Bastien Toma, who has played for Genk in Belgium since this season. The former Sioner hit the spot after Andi Zeqiri’s shot to the post to make it 1-1. When hardly anyone expected the winning goal, substitute Aarau Stojilkovic managed to make it 2-1 with his head off a perfect cross from St. Gallen’s Miro Muheim.

For a perfect classification, a victory is missing against France, the strongest rival in the group, who were beaten 3-1 in the first leg a year ago. On Saturday morning, the team will depart for Caen in Normandy, where kick-off will begin at 9pm on Monday.
