The Swiss four-four wins the bronze medal in the team pursuit at the European Championship in Plovdiv. In the race for third place, they clearly prevailed against Belarus.
The quartet with Claudio Imhof, Simon Vitzthum, Lukas Rüegg and Dominik Bieler drove the 4000m in the small final in 3: 55.051 and therefore 5 seconds faster than their Belarusian opponents. Compared to the first two appearances the day before, the Swiss achieved a clear increase. In the main round they needed 2.5 seconds more for the 16 rounds.
Reduced field of participants
The title went to Russia, who defeated Italy in the final. Thanks to Corona, numerous nations do not participate in the European Championship in Bulgaria or only with weakened teams. Because there are no World Cup races this winter, the MS is currently the only international comparison.
The Swiss off-roader, the true figure of Swiss cycling, did not appear with the best lineup either. Only Claudio Imhof and Lukas Rüegg from the team that participated in the World Cup and the European Championship last season and pushed the Swiss record to under 3:50 minutes.
