In a fire in an apartment in District 5, one person died on Thursday afternoon, November 12, 2020. The identity and cause of the fire are currently unclear. There was considerable material damage.
Shortly before 1:45 pm, a passerby reported that black smoke was rising from the window of an apartment in the apartment building at Limmatstrasse 199. Rescuers from the Zurich City Police and the Zurich Protection and Rescue they were shipped immediately. They discovered that there was a lot of smoke on the third floor.
During the extinguishing work, firefighters found a dead person. The identity of the sadly deceased person is currently unknown. The Limmatstrasse had to be closed on the section between Viaduktstrasse and Quellenstrasse for just over an hour.

When the professional fire department and spleen fire department arrived, thick smoke was pouring out of the third-floor windows. The fire in the apartment was quickly controlled by an internal attack. Firefighters also evacuated two residents of the building using the revolving stairs; other people had already left the building on their own before rescuers arrived.
The Schutz & Rettung Zürich operations control center arranged a large contingent for the operation: three tank fire trucks and two revolving ladders were at the site of the professional fire brigade and the SRZ militia, paramedics, the chief emergency physician, as well as three SRZ ambulances and two ambulances from Limmattal Hospital.
