Hüsler loses to Talent Sinner

Marc-Andrea Hüsler (ATP 149) missed another upset at the ATP 250 tournament in Sofia. After his first victory, the 24-year-old Zurich lost to young Italian Jannik Sinner 3: 6, 4: 6. Above all, Hüsler had little to counter the 19-year-old’s strong serve. One serve advance per set was enough for Sinner (ATP 44) in the end. In the Bulgarian capital, Hüsler was eliminated from qualifying, but rose to the main field as a lucky underdog.

Teichmann disarms after winning the opening set

For Jil Teichmann, the first round of the WTA tournament in Linz was the end of the line. La Bielerin would have been underway in their first match against Océane Dodin (WTA 115). She took the first sentence of the French with 6: 1. But at some point there was a break in the game of the Swiss world number 57. After a 4-2 lead in handling 2, he lost 7 games in a row. Therefore, the southpaw had to leave the field after just over 100 minutes 6: 1, 4: 6, 2: 6. With 12 aces and 3 double faults (compared to 5/6), Teichmann showed a performance clearly better in service, but couldn’t take advantage of it.

Cruciate ligament torn in Lisicki

A serious setback for former Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki: The 31-year-old suffered a torn cruciate ligament in her left knee at the WTA tournament in Linz and has already had surgery. The accident occurred on Monday in the doubles competition. It wasn’t until late August that Lisicki once again celebrated her first win after more than a year abstinence from touring. Lisicki had previously been battling glandular fever since July 2019. In the world ranking she is only 690.
