Swiss hospitals could be full on Sunday. Last week, Corona task force scientists named November 8 as the first time that “hospital and intensive care beds would be reached and then exceeded.” Fortunately, that hasn’t happened yet. But was the horror scenario just postponed or already avoided? What we know today and what we don’t.

How are the case numbers developing?

Around 7,700 new Covid 19 diagnoses per day, that’s the average for the last seven days. The numbers are high, but there is some evidence that the second wave may have peaked. At the very least, the rise in infections appears to be leveling off, stabilizing at best, says Stefan Kuster, head of communicable diseases at the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG).
