Taskforce-Ackermann: “We have no evidence that the measures are sufficient”

Anne Lévy, director of the FOPH, highlights that the situation has not yet calmed down: “The figures point to a slight stabilization, but still not entirely clear.” This provisional stabilization will have no effect on hospitalizations, as it will only have an effect there with a delay. This means: even if the number of cases stabilizes, hospitalizations will continue to increase for the time being.

Regarding the use of intensive care units, Lévy says: “We are currently quite full.” About 25 percent of intensive care places are still available on reserve. Overloading of intensive care beds should be avoided.

To achieve this, according to Lévy, the cantons can request civil protection and call the fire brigade. To ease the economy, companies can hire labor market personnel as well as students or the unemployed. In addition, in case of emergency there is the option of transferring patients to other cantons, Lévy said.
