Crown numbers are still high. The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) reported 9,409 new infections today. 231 people had to be admitted back to the hospital. In addition, 70 people with crowns died.
In hospitals, it is not only intensive care beds that are in short supply. It is also tight with qualified nursing staff. If nothing changes, there could be no more vacant intensive care places across the country by the end of the week. Doctors would then have to decide who they can continue to treat and who they can no longer treat.
In western Switzerland, hospitals are already overloaded. You have to transfer crown patients to other parts of the country. Federal Councilor Alain Berset (48) has been preaching for days that all hospitals do not have to postpone urgent operations to avoid overloading the health system.
The situation is dire. Federal experts will report to the media in Bern on the latest state this afternoon. Will be present:
• Anne Lévy, director of the Federal Office of Public Health
• Yvon Langel, Swiss Army
• Martin Walker, Deputy Director, Chief of Spending Policy, Federal Finance Administration
• Stefan Kuster, Head of Communicable Diseases, Federal Office of Public Health
• Oliver Schärli, Director of Labor Market / Unemployment Insurance, Seco
• Thomas Steffen, cantonal doctor of Basel-Stadt
• Martin Ackermann, President of Corona Scientific Task Force
