There have been demonstrations by supporters of both camps in various cities in the United States. The situation in Arizona is particularly tense.
The debate initiated by President Donald Trump on whether or not to count the ballots led to the first demonstrations. As reported by various media such as the “New York Times” or the stations “Fox News” and “CNN”, the majority of US citizens in Portland, Chicago, New York or Philadelphia protest with the slogan that every vote must count.
In Portland, the police reportedly arrested ten people and seized weapons-grade material. Gov. Kate Brown activated the National Guard to contain “widespread violence.” Police arrested 50 people during the protests in New York City. There were also demonstrations in Atlanta, Detroit and Oakland.
In some places, the direction of the protests cannot be clearly determined. In Maricopa County, where final votes are still being counted for the state of Arizona, an electoral college has apparently been cordoned off for security reasons. A team from the “CNN” station had to leave the house, inside it had to continue counting under police protection, while outside a few dozen protesters could be seen in front of the building.
Some were armed with rifles and pistols. The reason is unconfirmed rumors that votes for Trump are deliberately not being counted. The crowd in front of the Maricopa County Elections Department in Phoenix chanted “Stop the robbery” and “Count my vote.” The outcome of the Arizona vote could help determine whether Trump or his challenger Joe Biden win the election. By the current state, Biden is way ahead of Trump in Arizona. Some media outlets have already granted Biden status, but Trump’s campaign staff insist the decision has yet to be made.
In Detroit, Trump Supporters Call For The Opposite
The Maricopa Electoral College writes: “Employees continue to count votes. We will publish the results tonight. We thank the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for their work so that we can do ours. “
In Detroit, Michigan, Trump voters are said to be asking for the exact opposite – that is, stop the count. In Michigan, Democrats have caught up, now including all 16 Biden state voters. Polling stations in urban areas where Democrats have their strongholds needed more time for their results, in Michigan also mail-in votes were not counted until after Election Day (Tuesday). Even among postal voters, Democrats have a majority in most of the country.
