Based on previous investigations, the canton police and the Aargau public prosecutor assume that the father of the family first killed his three children at the ages of 3, 11 and 13 and then committed suicide.
The autopsies ordered had shown that three of the four dead allegedly died of drug intoxication, according to a statement from the Public Ministry. Apparently one victim was suffocated.
It is not yet clear which substance was used – toxicological findings are still pending.
The four fatalities were found Monday at the family home in Buchs. The investigating authorities assume that the father did not act out of affection. However, there was no occasion or evidence in the 37-year-old man’s close or broader environment that could have led to the conclusion of the act, he said. The motive and course of the events are still the subject of ongoing investigations.
The murdered children were three, eleven and 13 years old. The family dog also died.
