At the end of the cycling season, Stefan Küng showed his good form again. Elise Chabbey wins in women.
Stefan Küng secured his first championship title on the road in Märwil. Thurgau prevailed in the home game after 175.1 km and 2,210 vertical meters in thick fog after a long solo journey ahead of Danilo Wyss and Simon Pellaud.
With this, the 26-year-old from Wilen achieved something historic: After winning the national time trial title for the fourth time in a row in July, he was now the first Swiss to achieve the double. With the European Championship title and the time trial bronze medal, Küng can look back on an extremely successful season.
Chabbey takes advantage of Reusser’s absence
The female street race also ended with a premiere. Elise Chabbey was recognized as the Swiss champion for the first time.
After 82.4 km alone, the 27-year-old from Geneva beat mountain bike specialist Linda Indergand, replacing Marlen Reusser. The World Cup runner-up in the time trial did not start because she had to go into quarantine in her vicinity on Friday after a crown case.
