As announced by the Basel-Stadt canton prosecutor, the two 15-year-old Swiss committed various traffic offenses due to their driving style and put other road users in serious danger. But no one was hurt.
A police patrol had noticed the car in Theodorsgraben, which was driving without lights. When the police asked the driver to stop, he sped away towards Grenzacherstrasse, causing a collision with another car on Peter Rot-Strasse. The fleeing driver continued on his way and avoided the opposite lane, so several vehicles were able to avoid him at the last moment.
Near Rankstrasse, there was almost a head-on collision with an oncoming car. The getaway vehicle skidded, but the police stopped it before leaving. Investigations revealed that the vehicle had recently been stolen.
