The largest neighboring country is now putting the whole of Switzerland on the quarantine list. The Robert Koch Institute will decide on Thursday. Now the German federal government is putting all of Switzerland on the risk list. Travelers from Switzerland must be quarantined in Germany for two weeks starting on Saturday.
For the border cantons, the borders are not completely closed. Although the general quarantine obligation now applies to all of Switzerland, individual federal states can design the provisions themselves. The state of Baden-Württemberg on the border with Switzerland has already introduced a 24-hour rule for border cantons. This means that all travelers who are in Baden-Württemberg for less than 24 hours can enter without restrictions.
A special rule applies in these cantons
The special rule applies to the following cantons: Appenzell, Aargau, Basel, Basel-Landschaft, Jura, Schaffhausen, Solothurn, St. Gallen, Thurgau and Zurich.
The federal government has declared neighboring countries Poland and Switzerland, almost all of Austria and much of Italy as corona risk areas as of next Saturday. The Canary Islands, meanwhile, will be removed from the risk list, as the Robert Koch Institute announced on Thursday.
Great Britain, with the exception of the Channel Islands and overseas territories, all of Ireland and Liechtenstein will also be considered risk areas as of Saturday. There are also individual regions in Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Sweden, Slovenia, and Hungary.
Robert Koch Institute Analysis
“The classification as a risk area is based on an analysis and a joint decision of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Construction and the Interior,” says the Robert Koch Institute. Check and expand the list continuously.
The classification as a risk zone occurs when a country or region exceeds the limit of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days.
