Zurich’s governing council will decide next week whether measures are needed in the canton of Zurich that go beyond federal requirements.
As soon as the Federal Council announced the new measures on Sunday afternoon, the canton of Bern announced that it wanted to ban large-scale events with more than 1000 people. From the point of view of the Zurich health director, Natalie Rickli (SVP), the measure is also indicated for the canton of Zurich. “Due to the epidemiological situation and because contact tracing at major events cannot currently be guaranteed,” says Rickli.
But it doesn’t go as fast as in Bern in Zurich. The governing council has to decide here. And this now wants to examine first together with the special staff of the Covid-19, “how the existing measures should be adjusted with the new federal guidelines,” as announced on Sunday. The governing council wants to report on the result in the next week.
The momentum of federal measures largely corresponds to the path already taken by the governing council, according to the press release.
Over 4000 proven protection concepts
The governing council calls on the population to constantly adhere to the guidelines and follow the applicable hygiene rules. The canton is also confident in the constant implementation of the measures, he says. Among other things, more than 4,000 protection concepts have been verified since June.
