Roche has launched the so-called Elecsys Sars-CoV-2 antigen test. As the pharmaceutical company announced on Tuesday, the test should be used as an aid in diagnosing people infected with corona.
By the end of 2020, the test will be available in all markets that accept the European Union (EU) CE marking. Therefore, this also applies to Switzerland. However, Roche does not provide any information on when the new test will be available in this country.
In addition, according to the announcement, Roche intends to seek emergency approval from the US health authority, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Test results after just 18 minutes
The Sars-CoV-2 antigen test is performed by healthcare professionals.
Depending on the analyzer, it provides test results for a single test in 18 minutes, with a throughput of up to 300 tests per hour from a single analyzer. (SDA / vfn)
