Right-wing populist FPÖ, meanwhile, fell 20.8 percentage points to 10.0 percent after the Ibiza affair around his former boss Heinz-Christian Strache last year.
Former Vice Chancellor Strache, who was ousted over the affair, had reached 3.6 percent with his newly founded party “Team HC Strache – Alliance for Austria” and thus could not enter the Vienna city parliament. .
The Greens, who currently rule with the SPÖ in Vienna, were able to improve their participation by 3.2 percentage points to 15.0 percent. The liberal Neos reached 8.0 percent.
In all, around 1.3 million eligible voters were asked to elect a new state parliament today under strict Corona regulations. The state parliament of the Austrian capital has 100 seats.
