A 36-year-old man was injured at the “Musical Bar” in Riehenring on Saturday night. He was hit on the head with an object.
He fell to the ground and passed out. The man suffered major head injuries and had to be admitted to the emergency room by the emergency doctor and paramedics from the Basel-Stadt ambulance, the Basel-Stadt canton prosecutor announced on Sunday.
Previous investigations by the prosecution’s criminal investigation department revealed that there was a verbal discussion with two other men, which then escalated. The assailant and his colleague left the bar.
During the night, one of the two men, a 31-year-old Swiss, surrendered to the police. His colleague, who attacked and wounded the 36-year-old, is on the run.
