There is (almost) no way to beat EVZ goalkeeper Leonardo Genini for HCL players.

In the third game of the season, Lugano had to accept their first goals and also their first defeat. EV Zug took the lead with a 3-2 away win.

Never before in the history of the National League has a team survived the first three games of the season without conceding a goal. HC Lugano couldn’t dream of this record for long in his third appearance. In the third minute, Grégory Hofmann led Zug’s guests 1-0. As EVZ goalkeeper Leonardo Genoni had a very strong night, the Central Switzerland team took to the court their second victory in the second game.

At the other end of the table, the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers scored their first points with a 5-1 win over Ambri-Piotta, who still had no points. Overall, there were only away wins on Friday night. The ZSC Lions played a 4-1 lead against Genève-Servette and lost on penalties. Lausanne won 4-3 at SC Bern and Friborg-Gottéron 5-4 at Biel.

Gottéron’s usual away win

In the second home game against a rival from French-speaking Switzerland, the Bielers could not take advantage of the gala performance at the start of the season against Lausanne (6-0). It was just under four minutes before goalkeeper Joren van Pottelberghe had to come up behind him for the first time this season. After Daniel Brodins’ 1-0 win, Freiburg never let the home team catch up fully.

The dragons used leadership time and again to skillfully play counterattacks. Viktor Stalberg even managed the decisive 5: 2 shortly before the second break. The team of coach and sports director Christian Dubé won for the fifth time in the last six away games in Biel. Matthias Rossi is absent this weekend after being in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19.

First goal, but still no points for Ambri

The last season in old Valascia should be tough for Ambri-Piotta. Matt D’Agostini scored the first goal of the season for Leventines to make it 1-1 after a total of 126 minutes on a power play, but this was not enough for points.

In the middle third, Andrew Rowe gave the Lakers a second lead, while Leandro Profico, Kevin Clark and Lukas Lhotak even secured an uncontrolled victory in the final stretch. Ambri thus has zero points after three games and a devastating goal difference of 1:10. Rapperswil-Jona, meanwhile, reached the well-deserved first win of the season after narrow defeats in Freiburg and against Zug.
