On Tuesday morning, a small black lump was found in front of the cat house in Muttenz. An attentive passerby heard pitiful screams and discovered the abandoned kitten. Animal handlers from the Animal Welfare Association immediately took care of the frightened animal, the organization reports. The kitten was very hungry, but otherwise fine. Fortunately for him, the weather played well too – the temperatures weren’t too cold and it was just dry.
Mahena Haizmann, Managing Director of the Basel Regional Animal Welfare Association, explains: “We are glad that the kitten was deposited in the cat shelter and not dumped anywhere. However, we ask all pet owners who are no longer able or unwilling to care for their animal to turn it over to an animal shelter and not simply abandon it. Abandoning an animal is also a crime. “The Basel Regional Animal Welfare Association has brought criminal charges against unknown persons.
