The crime scene was an apartment on Gysulastrasse in Rombach AG. A third person informed the emergency call center at 0.50am Sunday that they had found an injured woman at this address. Police and the ambulance rushed into the apartment and found the resident and the two children there. The woman had cuts and stab wounds that were bleeding severely.
An ambulance took the seriously injured woman to hospital, where she underwent surgery. The children are unharmed. Due to the situation, it quickly became clear that the 34-year-old Eritrean had been the victim of a violent crime. The Aargau canton police immediately launched an intensive investigation and carried out extensive forensic tests at the crime scene.
That night the husband, who had been absent, reported to the police. Police arrested the 40-year-old Eritrean on strong suspicion. A knife was found in the apartment as an alleged murder weapon. The course of events and the motive for the bloody act are still largely unclear.
The Lenzburg-Aarau prosecutor’s office has opened a criminal investigation against the 40-year-old man. He will file an application for detention with the compulsory measures court. (gf)
